Land developers, BW Holdings has filed a motion against the Ministry of land seeking court orders that the road block erected by the Ministry near their building in Vatuwaqa is removed until the matter is resolved in the courts.
The lands Ministry cordoned off the area at the end of Viria road in Vatuwaqa Industrial zone in November claiming that BW Holdings illegally reclaimed land in the area.
The Lands Ministry claims that BW Holdings was given permission to reclaim around 32 acres of land while the Company reclaimed over 40 acres without approval from the Ministries of Land and Environment last year.
The Lands Ministry then hired a private security firm and cordoned off the area which was often used by the public as a picnic and fishing spot.
BW Holdings filed an ex-parte motion in the Suva High Court earlier this month and the matter will be argued in court tomorrow.
