Digicel Fiji 7s coach Josateki Savou has made it clear that the doors for selection to the Hong Kong and Adelaide 7s is the BP National 7s.
Speaking to Village Sports, Savou said that it hurts to hear former 7s coach Waisale Serevi's comments that the selectors have shut the door for selection as he is a professional player and should know what is the selection criteria.
He added that the selectors have not heard from Serevi or any members of the Drifters team about their intention to be part of the Hong Kong 7s training squad.
But Serevi said that he contacted the selectors last year telling them about his wish of playing in Hong Kong for the last time this year and he was surprised when they opted to use the National 7s as the last option to pick the team.
The BP National 7s on Saturday will be the selection ground for the 25 member squad for Hong Kong and Adelaide and also the 12 member team to Wellington.
