Fiji nationals serving in the British Army have shown keen interest in ensuring that their children gain their Fiji citizenship under the Citizenship of Fiji Decree 2009.

Director Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa said these Fiji citizens have been serving in the British Army for a number of years and some have even become British citizens.

Vuniwaqa said they receive about 50 applications a month from British Army soldiers who want to ensure that their wives and children are also recognized as Fiji citizens.

Meanwhile, Vuniwaqa confirmed yesterday former Fiji citizens who are granted dual Fiji citizenship and foreigners who are naturalized as Fiji citizens under the Citizenship of Fiji Decree 2009 will be allowed to vote in the general elections.
