School children around Fiji have been targeted to see that children are screened and tested many times, as it is hard to detect if a child has Rheumatic Fever or Rheumatic Heart Disease before it gets chronic.

The Chairman of Rheumatic Heart Disease Technical Team, Doctor Joseph Kado said that they are raising community awareness amongst people so that they take their children to hospital and not treat them at home when they are sick.

He said teachers are also told about the disease.
