A major awareness campaign is underway to combat illegal fishing in Fiji Waters after complaints from certain villagers that illegal fishing in their Qoliqoli is now a major concern.
Police Spokesperson, ASP Isikeli Ligairi said that Police are working closely with the Ministry of Fisheries and the Navy to arrest those fishermen who are breaching their license conditions.
ASP Ligairi has also revealed that some arrests have also been made.
According to Ligairi, they are also targeting those people who are benefiting from someone else's fishing grounds.
