Fiji has always remained an attractive destination and this is still evident with the high level of interest and actual land purchases that are now taking place in the country.

It is now reported that Australians and New Zealanders are increasingly buying holiday homes in Fiji, despite the country being subjected to targeted sanctions by Canberra and Wellington.

Carol West, a New Zealand real estate agent based in Nadi, has told Pacific Beat that the number of overseas citizens buying properties has basically doubled in the last two years.

She said they are mainly retirees who want to spend more time in Fiji's warm climate.

West said Australians and New Zealanders don't seem too concerned, and the strength of their currencies means they can pick up some real bargains.
