The Australian Sevens team is in a race against time to prepare for the Rio Olympics after long standing coach Michael O’Connor has resigned.

O’Connor said that the international travel to tournaments has taken away most of his family time from home.

O’Connor believes that his young Australian squad will be a definite medal chance in the Olympics.

Sevens general manager Anthony Eddy said O’Connor will stay with the Australian Rugby Union and take on a development role in the Sevens program.
