Two top Australia 7s players Bernard Foley and Matt Lucas have been released from the squad to join the Waratahs to face the British & Irish Lions in Sydney this weekend.

Both players were named earlier this month in Michael O’Connor’s Australian 7s side bound for the Rugby World cup.

They have been training with the sevens squad since it assembled on Monday, but now O’Connor faces a nervy wait on their readiness.

After scoring a dazzling try for the Reds against the Lions, Queensland flyer Luke Morahan has also left Australia's Sevens camp, having been called into the Wallabies squad.

A decision on whether or not Morahan will be replaced for Rugby World Cup Sevens will be made in the coming weeks.

Australia is in Pool A of the Rugby World cup with France, Spain and Tunisia.

The 7s Rugby World Cup will be held from the 28th to the 30th of this month.
