Australia has waived the travel ban on Fiji's Foreign Affairs Minister Inoke Kubuabula for private talks in Canberra.
According to Radio Australia, Kubuabola is right now in Canberra for talks with his Australian and New Zealand counterparts in an attempt to restore diplomatic ties after the High Commissioner expulsions last year.
In spite of these talks, Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said there's no change in Australia's overall position on Fiji and he doesn't expect a quick return of expelled High Commissioners.
New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully, already in Canberra for the scheduled meet, said Fiji must learn to agree to disagree if relations are to be restored.
Both ministers agree that an agreement to meet again would be considered progress.
