Australia will further invest $8.8million Australian Dollars over the next four years to support job creation and local businesses in Fiji.
This was announced by Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop at the Market Development Facility event earlier today.
Bishop said initiatives such as these are at the very heart of
Australia’s new aid policy which seeks to achieve better development outcomes in partnership with the private sector.
Bishop said that she was impressed by the business partnership being supported by the Market Development Facility.
She mentions that Australia will continue to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth through their aid program.
Bishop then added that they will continue to support private sector initiatives such as the Market Development Facility program as it creates jobs and new opportunities for people living in rural areas and outer islands.
