The Australian High Commission in Suva says it is closely watching the developments in Fiji with interest in regards to the invitation by the interim Prime Minister to all political parties to hold talks next Monday.

The High Commission said consistent with the decision of the Forum Leaders in Niue, Australia would be supportive of any dialogue initiative that is independent, inclusive and whose outcomes are not pre-determined.

It said Australia would be prepared to extend practical support to any dialogue process that develops momentum and enjoys support of all relevant stakeholders and parties.

The Australian High Commission stressed that it remains important for Fiji to return to a democratically elected government as quickly as possible.

The meeting between the interim Prime Minister and all political parties is expected to be held at the parliament complex on Monday.
