Australian Teenager Jessica Watson, whose is bidding to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world, is heading towards Fiji.

16 year old Watson, who sparked widespread debate over her attempt to circum-navigate the globe alone due to her age and the perils of sailing across the world, left Sydney on Thursday.

Onboard the 10.3 meter Ella's Pink Ladybut, Watson finally made way past New Zealand this morning.

Her Kiwi grandfather Godon Chisholm told the New Zealand Herald that by now she would be sailing towards Fiji and Samoa.

Her family, friends and fans from around the world are tracking Watson's progress via GPS and on her blog site which she updates during her trip.
