The Australian government has no plans to implement wider sanctions against Fiji.
Australian Foreign Minister, Stephen Smith said calls for bans on Air Pacific flights to Australia, trade and sporting sanctions would hurt the general Fiji community.
Smith said they are not proposing to introduce sanctions which have the impact of adversely impacting on the Fijian people themselves. He said this is definitely not the Australian government's objective.
