This month is seen as a very auspicious month by Muslims and Hindus as Muslims around the world are fasting during the month of Ramadhan while Hindus will be ending their 10 day celebrations of Lord Ganesha Festival.

The Elephant-headed Lord Ganesha is worshipped by Hindus as the supreme god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. During the Festival Ganesha Idols are installed in homes and worshipped for 10days. On the 11th day, the Idols will be taken through the streets in a procession accompanied with dancing and singing to be immersed in sea symbolizing a ritual see-off of the lord taking away with him the misfortunes of people.

Today, Processions will be carried out in Suva City by devotees on foot from 3pm towards Suva Point where the Ganesha Idol will be immersed in the sea after 5pm.
