Audit for Fiji Pine Trust
In a statement issued today, Chairman Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara said a consultation process was carried out with the Pine Landowners by the Company Directors and Government representatives where the landowners raised their concerns that they have not benefited from the Pine Industry.
Ratu Tevita said Fiji Pine Trust has the function of providing business advisory and technical services to the landowners and landowner companies, and they are also responsible for the management of the Extension pine forest plantations.
Fiji Pine Trust gets an annual Grant of $250,000 from Fiji Pine Limited and an annual Grant of $150,000 from Government for Extension Services.
Ratu Tevita said Fiji Pine Trust failed to perform its functions which have resulted in landowners being deprived of the benefits out of the pine industry.
All Grants to Fiji Pine Trust will be temporarily ceased until a decision is made based on the outcome of the audit.
