People must change their attitudes towards getting regular checkups for non-communicable diseases.

These are the words of the Dr Isimeli Tukana, the national advisor for non-communicable diseases at the Food-Base Dietary Guidelines Workshop at the Tanoa Plaza yesterday.

He added there is a major difference within the Fijian and Indian communities when it comes to having regular checks especially in regards to diabetes.

Dr Tukana said studies have shown that Fijians do not take the initiative to have regular checkups which have resulted in other health problems as well.
