Attitudes Need To Change-FWCC
These are the sentiments of Fiji Women's Crisis Centre coordinator Shamima Ali whose comment follows after three recent cases of domestic violence in Tailevu, Vatukoula and Tunuloa where two women lost their lives after being assaulted by their husbands.
Ali said religious based communities, legislators, government and policy makers need to work together to protect women adding that women should be given the respect that they deserve.
Meanwhile, a 28 year old woman is still fighting for her life at the CWM hospital after she was brutally assaulted by her husband at their home in Tailevu.
According to police, the woman who is unconscious following the incident is still in a coma and on life support machine.
The husband who is a farmer is being interrogated by officers at the Korovou Police Station.
It is alleged the man punched and kicked his wife following a domestic dispute this week.
He is expected to be charged soon.
