The Chairperson of the Movement for Democracy has welcomed the move by the Commonwealth Ministerial Action group to set a deadline for Fiji to conduct elections.
Attar Singh said the worrying part is that the Interim Prime Minister's recent interview in which he has said that there will be no elections in Fiji this year.
Bainimarama has stressed that he has been clear and consistent that there are a number of prerequisites which need to be satisfactorily accomplished before they can communicate with the Electoral Commission which will be able to give a definite dates for elections.
He said these prerequisites are part of the agenda for discussions at the upcoming political leaders meeting.
