The lack of funds has seen Athletics Fiji break camp and allow their athletes to spend time with their families this Festive season without any strict rules to follow.

National Coach Albert Miller said since many of their athletes who are earmarked for the Pacific Games next year are still students, with some of them based as far as Savusavu, attendance at their training camp has been low with only the Suva based athletes availing themselves for training.

Miller said it would be unreasonable to impose on the athletes, adding that despite subsidizing traveling expenses, many of the young athletes still did not come for training.

Meanwhile, the side is currently in talks with counterparts in America to rope in the services of former world champion Maurice Greene to coach the national side to the Pacific games next year.

All athletes have been told to be in camp by January 2nd.
