Fiji's top two athletes are out of the World University Athletics championship in Bangkok.

Leslie Copeland a medal prospect in this month's Pacific Games finished in 9th place in the Javelin event. Competing in Group A, Copeland had a throw of 62.57 meters and failed to advance into the second round.

Meanwhile former QVS sprinter Waisea Finau also failed to qualify in the quarterfinals. Finau missed out after finishing fourth in the 400 meters heats when he finished his race in a time of 47-62 seconds.
