An assistant Court Clerk who has been charged with one count of Bribery by a public servant appeared in Court late yesterday afternoon.
Niraj Singh is charged by FICAC with bribery after he allegedly accepted $100 from a Navita Devi in return for a favour in his duty as an assistant court clerk.
The Court heard that Singh was approached yesterday and the matter was reported to FICAC. In his defense, Singh claims that he was taking a loan from Devi.
The matter has been adjourned until the 23rd of next month by which time Singh is expected to get a lawyer.
Singh has been released on a $500 bail with strict conditions.
