The Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that the interim government had never said that there will be no elections.
However, he said electoral reforms are necessary to have a truly democratic election.
Sayed-Khaiyum said if the political parties and others want democratic rule, they should assist the interim government in have a fair electoral system, and not just call for democracy when it suits them.
However, Methodist Church General Secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu calls on the interim government to just put the People's Charter aside and prepare for elections.
Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha General Secretary Vijendra Prakash said dialogue is the key in moving the nation forward together.
