The government assessment teams are now analysing the number of people who have been severely affected by Tropical Cyclone Mick and need urgent assistance including food and water.
Acting Director DISMAC Pajiliai Dobui said most of the evacuation centres have been vacated today as damages have been minimal in a number of areas.
He said the assessment on who needs emergency rations are now being carried out.
As of this morning total number of evacuees stood at 3,845. The Western Division had recorded the most with 2,081 people.
However Dobui said majority of these people have returned to their homes earlier today.
Dobui said FEA and the Public Utilities Ministry have confirmed that power supply will be restored in all areas by early tomorrow.
The Fiji Electricity Authority said they will only restore power to affected areas once they have done a thorough check of a certain grid that there are no broken power lines in the area.
Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel said this will take some time.
Earlier today our reporters noticed some residents of Sakoca in Tacirua trying to move and fix the broken power lines that were on the roads. Patel is calling on people not to touch any broken lines as it could result in the loss of lives.
The Water Supply Department has revealed that water is expected to be back in most parts of Viti Levu by 8pm tonight as FEA has worked hard to restore power to all the pumping stations around the country.
Department Spokesperson, Maika Nagalu said that they have worked around the clock to ensure that power is back to the stations as many people have been without water since yesterday.
Looking at the Central Division, Nagalu said that for those staying along the Suva-Nausori Corridor, water supply will be back tonight.
In the West, Nagalu said that water will normalise any time soon.
Meanwhile, water supply has normalised in Labasa, Taveuni and in Dreketi.
At the moment, water trucks will be sent out to areas in the Central Division that are still facing problems and the Department has opened fire hydrants in Raiwaqa and Nailuva street as filling points for those that do not have water by tonight.
Water cuts that are currently being experienced by majority of Viti Levu has seen the shutting down of many health centres with only emergency cases being looked at.
Helath Ministry Spokesperson, Illiesa Tora said that so far, the Navua Health Centre as well as the Vale Levu, Makoi, Raiwaqa and Tamavua Health Facilities are all closed as well those in the Western Division.
Tora adds that the water cut has also affected their clean-up campaigns.
Speaking from the Navua Health Centre, Tora said that they will have to wait for water to be back to normal as the damage was extensive.
Tora also adds that in Nausori they have had to move four cases to CWM and are operating on a skeleton staff due to the threat of flooding.
