School heads and principals have been told to assess the number of teaching hours lost and make provisions to minimize the lost hours as a result of Cyclone Gene.

The Interim Education Minister, Filipe Bole advises teachers to compile a report and have discussions with parents on how to make up for lost hours.

The Ministry also advises them to ensure they only open their respective schools once it is safe for the children, and there is a steady supply of water and electricity.
