Assaulted Ref Wants Team Apology
Kewal was assaulted by Suva soccer players Cedrick Dutt, Yogesh Narayan and Suva soccer official Riyaz Hussein during the FMF/Blue Gas Battle of the Giants Tournament after Labasa was awarded a penalty kick by Kewal late in the game which Labasa went on to win.
Kewal's lawyer Lina Goundar today told Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku that the Suva soccer secretary had approached Kewal for reconciliation and Kewal told him that he will only accept their apology if whole Suva soccer team apologized to him at his residence.
Arrangements are being made with other Suva team members to go to Kewal's residence this Sunday.
Goundar also told the court that if Suva soccer team failed to apologize, then they will have to proceed with the trial.
The three earlier pleaded guilty to assaulting Kewal and the court ordered that they must reconcile.
