The fire that completely destroyed the MH Supermarket and Homemaker in Labasa a few weeks ago is suspected to have been set deliberately by someone.

Crime officers from the Labasa Police Station have confirmed they are treating the matter as arson and they are now in their final stages of their investigation.

Other details regarding the investigation are expected to be released soon.

Meanwhile, Labasa police will receive the National Fire Authority's investigation report on the fire by late this afternoon.

The Fire Authority had earlier revealed the fire had started from the first floor of the building where the bulk store was located.

The cost of damage stands at around eight million dollars.
