The Public Accounts Committee has highlighted that one of the common concerns in all eight municipal councils in the country was the large arrears of revenue that was due from ratepayers.
The committee stated that despite having revenue recovery strategies in place, there was still a very slow progress in the recovery of arrears of rates while some of the councils had even resorted to taking legal actions.
The committee was concerned about big businesses and other large entities that owed large amounts of arrears of rates and were not making any attempts to make payments.
