Around 4000 farmers are feeling the full brunt of the dry spell in the Sigatoka area.
Sigatoka Valley Road farmer, Saten Dass said the last time they faced such a situation was about twenty years ago adding that if the situation remains the same, many families will not be able to put food on the table.
Meanwhile, Lomawai farmer, Jaswant Singh the farmers are severely affected farmers and most of these farmers from Sigatoka supply vegetables to markets around the country.
Singh said the last time he experienced such weather was in 1983 which lasted for about 5-6 months.
He also said that this is a prolonged dry weather.
