449 army and 115 police recruits will be absorbed in the two security forces after the first ever joint military and police pass out parade.

Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said some of them will be considered as potential officer cadet material while selected Trade Training School Trainees will continue with the RFMF.

He said some will join the RFMF band and others with the Territorial Forces.

He said new police officers will be absorbed into the regular force in anticipation of the increase in demand for police in various new units formed such as boarder police, humanitarian and support unit, water police and additional roles to assist immigration officers and customs in outer island police locations.

Bainimarama added that they will be exploring all possibilities of offering the two forces services in the maintenance of world peace.
