Viliame Vutikalulu of Police won the amateur heavyweight boxing title in the BSP Life Sukuna Bowl after defeating his nephew Suliasi Lavaki of Army.

Vutikalulu’s win was not enough as Army won the overall boxing title for the second year in a row.

The soldiers won 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze while Police grabbed 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Cika Mafi, Metui Rarawa and Alfred Ledua won their fights for Army while Pelasio Wainimoce, Antonio Racika and Viliame Vutikalulu were victorious for Police.

Meanwhile, cabinet yesterday endorsed the Boxing Commission of Fiji.
 
The Amateur Boxing Association of Fiji will be tasked with the administration of amateur boxing in Fiji and likewise the participation of amateur boxers in the region and internationally.
 
Sports Minister Commander Viliame Naupoto said the regulations specifically provide that amateur boxing in Fiji will be operated in accordance with the AIBA Articles and Rules.
 
He said this will ensure that amateur boxing standards in Fiji are on par with regional and international standards.
