Army Green has defended the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s title for the second year in the row after beating the much favoured Fiji Barbarians side by 24-12 in the final.

Leone Nakarawa scored the first try for Army after there was some misunderstanding in the Babarians defence.

Army led 7-0 at half time.

The Champions started the second half on a high by scoring in the first minute after the Babarians could not win their own scrum five meters from their try line before Setefano Cakau made a 50 meter run to score and give a respectable scoreline 12-7 into the third minute of the second half.

Napolioni Naulia touched down for the third try for Army after an initial break was made by player of the tournament Aisake Katonibau for Army to lead 17-7.

The Digicel Fiji Babarians made numerous attacks but poor execution  proved costly for them when Nikola Matawalu threw a wild pass to Ilai Tinai but was intercepted by Army's Sevuloni Lutu resulting in their forth try.

The Barbarians did not give up and hard working forward Jimilai Naikadawa scored on the far end of the embarkment side to bring the final scoreline to 24-12.

Meanwhile the sixteen names were announced by coach Alifere Dere after the finals are, Apisai Nayabo, Jimilai Naikadawa, Timoci Vakadranu, Setefano Cakau, Lepani Botia, Nemani Nagusa and Waisea Nayacalevu in the forwards.

While the backline consists of Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai, Sikeli Vuruna, Joeli Lutumailagi, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Avinisi Vasinubu, Nikola Matawalu, Metuisela Talebula and Simeli Tagea.

The twelve member national side for the Hong Kong and Japan sevens leg will be announced on Tuesday.

In the women's final Marist Sea Hawks Blue beat Marist Red 24-15 while Yavato beat Waimanu 17-0 in the Oldies final.

In the third placed team final, Concrete Solutions beat Seniboro 15-0 and Red Rock 1 beat Marist Red 36-12 in the Shield final and in the bowl final, Wardens Green defeated Ratu Filise 17-7

In the plate final Wardens gold edged Police 22-17.
