Hurricanes openside flanker Ardie Savea faces an uncertain wait for the results of scans on his knee, but his coach Chris Boyd says the side cannot afford to be distracted by injuries ahead of this weekend’s historic Super Rugby final against the Highlanders.

Savea spent Saturday night in a knee brace after limping off the Westpac Stadium pitch 50 minutes into the Hurricanes’ 29‑9 semifinal win over the Brumbies.

He played a massive part in taking the home side into their first final since 2006, outshining Wallabies opposite David Pocock at the breakdown and putting some of the backs to shame with his pace and skill in the outside channels.

It was a performance that had many wondering how the All Blacks had passed Savea over in their 41 man squad selection.

The Hurricanes will host the Highlanders in the Super Rugby Final at 7:35pm this Saturday.
