Archeologists from the Fiji Museum have discovered human footprints on a piece of coral believed to be thousands of years old.
Archeologist, Sepeti Matararaba who found the piece of coral at the old Namuka Village site in Nadroga last week said he has been in the field since 1983 and such discovery is unusual.
He added they will need experts to put a date to establish how old the finding is.
Matararaba said he presented a bundle of yaqona to the Chief of the Yavusa after which he was able to bring the coral to the Fiji Museum.
The footprint is 13 inches long and 8 inches wide and is being kept at the Fiji Museum.
