The Fiji Museum Archeologist Department is now visiting old village sites or archeological sites in the country in an effort to preserve our past for our future.
Archeologist Sepeti Matararaba who has been in the field for 27 years now said with a lot of development taking place, there is a need to protect the old village sites.
Meanwhile, on his recent trip to old village sites, Matararaba discovered human footprints on a piece of coral stone at the old Namuka Village site in Nadroga last week.
The footprint is 13 inches long and 8 inches wide and is being kept at the Fiji Museum.
