Archbishop Asked to Reconsider Position
Those are the words of former Labour Minister Kenneth Zinck who was part of a delegation of Catholic Church members who visited Archbishop Petero Mataca and requested him to step down from the Co-Chair position of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
Zinck said that many Catholic Church members were scared to come forth and speak out but that they are of the same opinion that the Archbishop should reconsider his position.
In a statement, Archbishop Mataca said that he joined the national council to contribute in building Fiji, Rotuma, Rabi and Kioa to be a secure, just and truthful place.
Archbishop Mataca has defended his acceptance of the post in the council saying that victims and wrongdoers have not freed themselves from the hurtful events and as a result have been moving the nation backwards.
He reiterates that he has dedicated his life to serving the people and God, and his position as Co-Chair should not be taken as him not being neutral.
