The lawyer for the sacked Great Council of Chiefs members, Savenaca Komaisavai has stressed that all appointments made by the Interim Fijian Affairs Minister will be termed as illegal as he is not an elected minister.
Komaisavai has questioned Ratu Epeli Ganilau's statement that a reconstituted Great Council of Chiefs will decide on the appointment of the next Vice President.
He said the new members will not have any mandate from the village, Tikina and Provincial levels.
Meanwhile, Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has refused to comment on the matter stating that the matter regarding the legality of the interim government is before the courts and any lawyer with sense of ethics and professionalism should not comment on such matters.
