Appointment Procedure a Concern - Ratu Josefa Basulu
He said he received a phone call in Vanuabalavu last week and the caller from the provincial office in Suva only told him to come to Suva, but did not tell him that he had been appointed as a member of the NCBBF.
Ratu Josefa said he only came to know he was a member of the NCBBF when he was told on Saturday to attend the meeting today.
He attended the first meeting today and said that some constructive discussions were held at the NCBBF and that he is looking forward to going back to Vanuabalavu next week.
Ratu Josefa said he would then decide whether he will attend the next meeting and agree to be part of the council.
Meanwhile, the NCBBF met behind closed doors in Nasova today and were addressed by the Independent Monitoring Group appointed to oversee the work of the Council by the President Ratu Josefa Iloiilo.
The council was also briefed by the Electoral Commission and the Boundaries Commission on the work already carried out and the work that needs to be done.
The media was not allowed inside to cover the opening statements. The NCBBF said a communiqué would be released later this afternoon.
