Applications for the Fiji 7s coaching job has closed and the Fiji Rugby Union will now carry out the remaining recruitment process.

FRU CEO John O'Connor says they will make announcements after the completion of this process.

O'Connor has not revealed any other details.

There is still no word on whether any top overseas 7s coaches have applied for the job.

The new coach is expected to come in before the Dubai 7s which kicks off on December 2nd.

The new coach also needs to get the team ready for the World Cup 7s in USA in July, 2018, the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April 2018 and the next Olympic Games in Japan in 2020.

There is some talk that South Africa 7s coach Neil Powell or USA coach Mike Friday may be the best people to coach the Fiji 7s side.

Meanwhile, Fiji 7's team manager Ropate Kauvesi and trainer Nacanieli Cawanibuka took the 32 member extended squad through fitness tests last week.
