FICAC today made an application for a matter involving two former employees of Fiji National Provident Fund to be transferred to the High Court.

Olota Rokovunisei and Foana Nemani are alleged to have defrauded FNPF by authorizing payment of responsibility allowance to each other, for the amount of $33,000 to Rokovunisei and $35,000 to Nemani without authority.

The two were employed as General Manager and Deputy General Manager.

FICAC made an application for the matter to be transferred to High court.

Magistrate Kaweendra Nayankkara then asked if the matter could be transferred when Nemani returns from New Zealand who was on medical leave.

However, FICAC Lawyer Laisa Lagilevu then said that the matter be transferred anyway, as it will make no difference if they wait for Nemani.

Nemani's lawyer then asked for some time to study the new legislation. The matter has been adjourned till 4th February.
