The Fiji Rugby Union has extended the deadline for the new 7s coach applications by another week.

FRU Chairman Filimoni Waqabaca said this is mainly due to the high level of interest shown on who will replace Alifereti Dere.

Meanwhile Fiji Water has secured the naming rights for the upcoming FRU Centennial 7s tournament.

The tournament will now be called the Fiji Water Centennial International 7s which will be held at the ANZ Stadium on the 4th and 5th of October.

Fiji Water CEO Rokoseru Nabalarua said this is their biggest ever sports sponsorship in Fiji but he will not reveal the monetary value.

Waqabaca said this sponsorship may encourage others to come forward.

Waqabaca added that there is no legal implication as Aquasafe is the official bottled water provider for FRU because this is a one off sponsorship.

16 teams will take part in the tournament which includes Argentina, France, Kenya, Samoa, USA, Australia, and Tonga.

South Africa has pulled out of the tournament due to financial constraints.
