Anxiety is growing for the family of 32 year old Wayne Suliana who is still being held hostage by Somali pirates after their German vessel, the Hansa Stravenga was seized off the Horn of Africa on April 5th.
Speaking to Fijivillage news, Suliana's mother Vamarosi Muasio said she has not had any contact with her son for over three weeks.
Muasio said she has provided the government with certain information and has been assured that all effort is being made to secure his release.
The Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Peceli Vocea confirmed earlier that they are liaising with the relevant authorities and getting updates on any developments on the hostage crisis.
Meanwhile, the BBC reports that the Tuvalu government is now seeking assistance from New Zealand and Australia of Suliana and the 11 Tuvaluan nationals and 24 foreigners.
The pirates are demanding US$15 million for the release of the hostages.
