Deputy Police Commissioner Eroni Antonio has hit back at the statements released by Australian and New Zealand that there is a risk to travel to Fiji.
Antonio says the Fiji Police has control over the situation in Fiji and advisories are wrong in saying that civil disorder and violence cannot be ruled out because of the current political situation.
According to New Zealand's Travel Advisory, there is some risk to one's travel to Fiji and caution is advised since the reinstatement of the PER.
The advisory adds that although Fiji is calm, a rapid deterioration to the situation, which includes the potential for civil disorder and violence, cannot be ruled out.
