Fiji Trade Union Congress General Secretary, Felix Anthony has welcomed the agreement signed by the Fijian government, the employers and the FTUC today to use the Employment Relations Promulgation as the primary basis for labour management relations in the country.
Anthony said they are under no illusion that this will require a great deal of good faith by all parties.
He said the agreement to reinstate the direct union subscription deductions for civil servants who are union members, is also positive and will encourage good faith.
Anthony said they look forward to the full implementation of the agreement and he hopes this will mark a new beginning for industrial relations in Fiji.
