Kiwi‑Welsh utility back Gareth Anscombe is being picked as the favourite to replace injured fullback Leigh Halfpenny in the Wales squad for the Rugby World Cup.
Halfpenny was ruled out of the World Cup after he suffered knee ligament damage when falling awkwardly during Wales' final warm‑up match against Italy.
Former Chiefs and Blues player Anscombe, whose mother Tracy is Welsh, moved to the Cardiff Blues last year and in January was named in Wales' 34‑man squad for the Six Nations Championship.
