A 64 year old woman lost her life in an accident in Nadi yesterday morning.

Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the elderly woman was taking her husband to the hospital when her vehicle allegedly collided with an oncoming vehicle in Namaka Nadi.

The woman died at the scene while her husband and another passenger were taken to the hospital.

They have been treated and sent home.

Meanwhile, a man is admitted at the Lautoka hospital after an accident in Tuvu Lautoka yesterday afternoon.

The man was trapped inside the waste truck he was driving after it tumbled down a ditch.

It took one hour for him to be rescued.

His truck starting reversing after it reached the hill top and went off the road hitting a FEA pole and ended up in a ditch.

It is believed the brakes had failed.

This is a second incident in two days after a container truck reversed and overturned on Monday night at Edinburgh drive.

Police believe the brakes had also failed.
