Another hurdle for Fiji 7s
After winning the Australia 7s in Gold Coast on Saturday night the side is faced with a biggest hurdle of trying to end their 13 year losing streak in the City of Gold.
The last time Fiji tasted a win in Dubai was in 1998 when former players like Filimoni Delasau, Marika Vunibaka and Waisale Serevi were still in the team.
Also for the coaching staff of Alifereti Dere and Eddy Waqa they will try to claim a back to back win for the first time, something Fiji has failed to do in the past.
Fiji won the IRB Sevens Series in 2006 when Waisale Serevi worked with Jo Savou but they failed to produce a two in a row win in any of the tournaments.
Meanwhile coach, Alifereti Dere left this morning with Pio Tuwai and Aminiasi Nava as replacement for Setefano Cakau and Jimilai Nakaidawa.
Fiji will now prepare for the next leg in Dubai this weekend and they are in Pool A with Argentina, United Arab Emirates and Samoa.
Fiji’s first game is against Argentina at 7:04pm on Friday.
