Another case of Pandemic H1N1 is in the country.

Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor Salanieta Saketa said this brings to six the total number of confirmed cases in the country out of 14 samples received from clinics.

One of the results was inconclusive for Pandemic H1N1 2009.

This is largely attributable to the minimal genetic material detected from samples sent for testing.

It is not confirmed where the person lives.

Meanwhile, yesterday the Ministry confirmed two women and a man confirmed with H1N1 and they live in Suva, Lautoka and Nadi.

The two earlier cases were from Nadi.

Meanwhile, in light of the six confirmed cases of Pandemic H1N1, the World Health Organization today donated more than 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment masks to the Ministry of Health.

WHO representative for the South Pacific Dr Ken Chen said the protective equipment such as masks is to protect health care workers and slow the spread of the disease.

During the past two weeks, WHO donated a significant amount of Tamiflu to those countries that did not yet have a stockpile of this medicine with Fiji receiving 157,000 tablets.
