Anglicans from throughout the South Pacific gathered in Suva for the installation of a new Bishop of Polynesia, an event that has not been staged for more than thirty five years.

The Right Reverend Dr Winston Halapua who returned to Fiji after 14 years from New Zealand, was this morning installed as the sixth Bishop of the Dioceses of Polynesia and as a Primate and Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Aoteroa, New Zealand and Polynesia at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, taking up the bishops chair that has been vacant since the death in February of his long serving predecessor, Archbishop Jabez Bryce.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Bishop Winston said he looks forward to the task that lies before him.
