Former Police Commissioner and current ACT Chief of Police Andrew Hughes has been appointed to a top position in the United Nations.
ABC News reports that Hughes will become police advisor in the UN Department of Peace Operations and will be responsible for coordinating police involvement in UN peacekeeping efforts.
Hughes left the country on the eve of the December 5th takeover in Fiji and his appointment was terminated by the interim regime.
