The 100 year old Baka tree located at the Dudley High school compound in Suva will not be cut down.
That is the confirmation made by Reverend Willam Lucas of the Methodist Church, after a team was tasked with carrying out a feasibility study on the removal of the Baka tree.
Rev Lucas said engineers have decided that pruning is the best way to control the growth of the tree.
More than $33,000 was collected during the Baka Tree Open Day by the Parents, Teachers and old-scholars association a few months ago.
Rev Lucas says the committee will use this money for the maintenance of the sewer line and infrastructure damages.
